Fiber for Gut Health

Lemna is packed full of dietary fiber.* The American Heart Association recommends that the average individual should consume 25-30g of fiber per day(3). However, the majority of the American population consumes less than half of the recommended daily allowance(4).

High fiber consumption has been shown to reduce coronary heart disease (4) by lowering LDL cholesterol levels in the body (5). Not only does fiber prevent heart disease, but fiber also has been shown to combat insulin sensitivity, stabilize blood sugar and aid in weightloss(4).*

Strengthen Your Blue light Defense

Lutein and Zeaxanthin

Lemna contains lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids commonly found in the eye. Lutein, specifically, can prevent eye damage by filtering blue light, often found in phones, laptops, televisions and any screened technology(6). Studies have indicated that lutein and zeaxanthin consumption can prevent age-related macular degeneration(7). They have also been linked to improvements in cognitive function by increasing blood flow to areas that have deteriorated(8).*

Omega-3 fats, polyphenols, lutein, chlorophyll and a high source of Vitamin A content all contribute to Lemna’s natural antioxidant abilities. Antioxidants are known to prevent free radicals and oxidative stress, which are the cause of many chronic diseases(9).

Lemna contains high quantities of omega-3 fatty acids, specifically alpha-linoleic acid, at nearly 50% of your recommended daily intake. Studies indicate that this preventative effect to cardiac disease is due to a reduction in LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) and an increase in HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) (10). Studies show that omega-3 supplementation can benefit cardiac health, reduce coronary events omega-3 supplementation had a statistically significant benefit to their cardiac health and fewer coronary events(10) and decrease blood pressure(11).

On top of all of the other benefits of Lemna, it is also a high source of magnesium, calcium and iron and a good source of phosphorus and zinc. Calcium is essential for bone health, muscle generation and movement. Magnesium helps to regulate blood pressure, blood sugar, and heart rate. Iron is vital to oxygen transport around the body. Phosphorus aids in acid-base balance within the body and partakes in energy production. Zinc is used for our growth, immune systems and the ability to send signals around the body.
